Forrest Gump grew up having a very low IQ. He had braces on his legs and the doctors told him he would never be the same as an average boy. But when Forrest learned to run, it opened many opportunities in his life.

Bubba was one of Forrest’s best friends. They met on the bus to war. Bubba always talked about his family and how he wanted to buy his own shrimping boat so he could support his family.

Jenny is Forrest’s best friend and first love. She had a rough child-hood, leading her into many mental issues, including believing she did not deserve to be loved. Her life all turns around when she realizes she has a child.

Lieutenant Dan was Forrest’s lieutenant during the war. Lieutenant Dan thought his destiny was to die with his soldiers during the war, but when Forrest saved him from being killed, he was never able to forgive him until Dan and Forrest bought a shrimping boat together.
