Early CareerRonaldo

Madeira, Portugal, is the home town of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. The island of Madeira was also the place where Cristiano first learned to master his skills as a soccer player. He began kicking around the soccer ball when he was three. When he started primary school, his passion for the sport was obvious. He spent his early years playing for many local teams. By the time he turned 12, he already was named one of Madeira's top soccer player.

New Teams

He soon began to catch attention of other big Portuguese clubs which catapulted him onto the national scene, where he found himself a new member of the Sporting Lisbon. In the summer 2003, Ronaldo and his team found themselves in a close battle against perennial powerhouse Manchester United. Ronaldo and his team came out of this game victorious, with Ronaldo being the key player of the game. Sir Alex Ferguson, the coach of Manchester, was amazed by the skill of young Cristiano and wanted him on his team. Attracted by the bright future available with Manchester, Cristiano took of the offer.

Manchester and Real Madrid

Ronaldo had a very successful first year on the Manchester team, leading the United to the 2004 FA Cup championship. By March 2008, fiery Ronaldo was the top-scoring right winger in Manchester's history. As his dominance continued, Ronaldo finally earned his dream move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009. He has perfected his quality in the following years and is well known for his powerful kicks and amazing skills.
